This image shows a high variety of tones and we can see that the center of the image and the top of the arms are highlighted so that is where the light is beaming onto. There is a high contrast between the highlighted sections and the dark sections that make a shadow.
In this image it's very clear where the light is coming from as the highlighted section is the right side of the flower and the darker shadows are along the left side of the flower. It appeaers like quite a gradual transition of tones rather than harsh and distinct edges where the tone suddenly changes. This is more the tone darkens gradually along the flower.
Contrasting to the image above, this image still has highlighted sections and darker shadows in it however it is not just one side that the light is coming from as the different tones are in different places. I like the effect this gives the image as I think the distinct sections where the tone changes makes the image look quite futuristic and sharp.
I like this image as the highlighted tones seem to come out of the focus center point (the tree) and gradually fade out in all directions into darker tones. The lighter tones seemingly come from the sun as this is an image of a natural and organic landscape. But because the tree is where the sun seems to be it highlights the tree and it's branches.
This image has many different tones with in it. The most highlighted areas come from the bottom right side and it gradually gets darker. The darkest shadows are along the top and bottom left hand corners.
